INTERTRIBAL WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AND RECIPROCITY COMPACT
On August 4, 2026, Modoc Nation Chief Robert L. Burkybile III signed the Intertribal Wildlife Management and Reciprocity Compact, joining the Wyandotte Nation, Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma, Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, and Shawnee Tribe in a shared commitment to cooperative wildlife conservation across Tribal lands.
This historic agreement recognizes each Nation’s sovereignty while establishing reciprocal licensing for hunting, fishing, trapping, and outdoor recreation among participating Tribes, protecting treaty rights and honoring the cultural traditions of each Nation for generations to come.
