The Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of all grounds and outdoor areas, as well as supporting general facility maintenance. This position requires advanced knowledge of landscaping practices, operation of heavy-duty equipment, and extensive small engine repair and maintenance to ensure all tools, vehicles, and equipment remain in optimal working condition.
• Perform routine and advanced lawn care, including mowing, trimming, edging, brush cutting, and weed control across large or varied terrain
• Maintain landscaped areas through planting, pruning, fertilizing, irrigation oversight, and seasonal cleanup
• Operate and maintain a wide range of equipment, including commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, tractors, trucks, and brush hogs (including use around ponds and uneven terrain)
• Perform extensive small engine repair, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on lawn care equipment and machinery
• Utilize knowledge of gas and diesel engines to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment and vehicles
• Conduct routine inspections and servicing of equipment to minimize downtime and extend lifespan
• Assist with general facility maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and upkeep as needed
• Perform seasonal duties such as leaf removal, storm cleanup, and snow/ice removal
• Identify, report, and correct safety hazards on grounds and around facilities
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper storage of tools, equipment, and maintenance areas
• Keep accurate and detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment usage
WEEKLY DUTIES:
• Enter all employee changes into Paylocity.
• Scan and upload all necessary HR forms to the correct employee profiles in Paylocity.
• Review new hire checklists provided by the HR Director to ensure timely entry of PTO eligibility (typically at 60 days) and completion of assigned tasks.
• Follow up with departments to obtain and maintain up-to-date job descriptions.
• Update the employee directory with new hires and terminations; send directory updates to all staff as needed.
• Prepare and distribute employee birthday cards.
MONTHLY DUTIES:
• Process payroll for elected council members on the first Friday of each month.
• Generate and distribute payroll reports for departments with reimbursable employees.
• Update PTO balances in Paylocity for employees on their anniversary dates.
• Gather updates from departments and programs for the employee newsletter; compile and forward information to the HR Director.
• Assist in organizing and executing employee engagement events.
• Audit all health insurance statements
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Demonstrated experience in commercial lawn care, landscaping, or grounds maintenance required
• Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience in small engine repair
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not required
• Ability to safely operate heavy-duty landscaping and maintenance equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

$45,000- $50,000 Based On Experience
