Modoc Nation offers a variety of services to our members and community. 

ARPA Stabilization Grant

*Not accepting ARPA Stabilization Grant Applications at this time

Cemetary & Burial Assistance

•$10,000 to assist with funeral costs and associated expenditures (cremation, headstone, etc.)

•Free burial plot for member and spouse

The Modoc Nation CCDF program is a federally funded child care subsidy program that assists working families or families seeking higher education through child care financial assistance while promoting children’s learning by improving the quality of early care and education and after school programs. Our main purpose is to provide childcare subsidy for Native children in our service area through direct services as well as through sponsored grants.

Child Support Services : Modoc-CSE

•Free tribal child support Enforcement Services, including paternity testing

•Assistance with Court Orders and Enforcement for Child Support

Modoc Nation offers a variety of educational services to our members. We offer IEP/504 support consultation and support, mentoring, as well as post-secondary scholarships.

Elderly Energy Allowance

•For eligible Modoc members ages 55 years and older to assist with the cost of heating and air. 

•Assistance provided to member 2x’s per year (Winter & Summer)

Environmental Services

The primary mission of the Modoc Nation Office of Environmental Quality (OEQ) is to establish its presence within the environmental community, accurately assess the Nation’s environment, and establish the necessary legal infrastructure to regulate the Nation’s environment and protect the Nation’s sovereignty.  By doing so, the Nation will be able to preserve and protect the land and health of its People.

Eyeglasses & Hearing Aids

Tribal members are eligible for assistance with eyeglasses and hearing aids. 

Family Preservation

The Purpose of the Family Preservation Program is to:

•Assist parents so that they are alleviated of stress by removing financial barriers to providing adequate education and health services to Indian children of our Tribal Community. (Health Services can include, dental, vision, sports exams, etc.)

•To provide families with the ability to cope with the problems of daily living, and to preserve or restore their social, emotional or economic well-being providing for future tribal generations a more stable foundation.

•Applications will be released as funding becomes available.

•Low Income and Fair Market Rental Housing

•Eligible for Section 184 Housing Loans through a qualifying bank

The Patricia Trolinger Genealogy Resource Center and Library is now located at the Modoc Gathering Building just off Highway 10 and Stateline Road/E. 100 Rd. We have many resources for our members: books about the Modoc people, the local area tribes and Native American history, children’s books for ages PreK to Young Adult, audio cd’s, DVD’s, computers for member use, copies of BIA files on Base Roll POW’s, ACT and SAT test prep books, resources for resume writing, etc.

There are several plate types for this 2022 series, including the new Mt Shasta graphic, the Bison graphic, a collectible or front-plate version, as well as a disabled, elder, personalized, commercial, farm, and tribal government version. 

•Counseling Services (fees waived) for Modoc Nation members in Ottawa County and surrounding areas when treated at Lost River Treatment Center or The Healing House

Anyone applying for enrollment in the Modoc Nation must meet the following qualifications:

  • An applicant for membership by enrollment shall furnish the tribal registrar with documented proof of ancestry tracing the individual back to a person listed on the current roll or the 1878 Quapaw Agency Modoc Census of Subsistence and Ration list. Additionally, the applicant must show that their ancestors did not return to Oregon, pursuant to the Act of March 3, 1909. The Act of 1909 applies accordingly to
  • “… those Modoc Indians now enrolled at the Quapaw Agency, in Oklahoma, formerly Indian Territory, together with their descendants living at the date of the passage of this Act, and that upon the removal of any of said Indians to the Klamath Reservation, in Oregon, they shall be allotted as other Indians on said reservation, and that upon the passage of this Act they be accorded all the rights and privileges of other Indians enrolled at the Klamath Agency.”
  • Proof of ancestry shall include tribal enrollment cards, certified birth, death, marriage or baptismal certificates; church records; court records; census records or a roll or historical record of the Modoc Nation.
  • Persons, not already on the Modoc Roll, that are or have been enrolled with another Federal Recognized Tribe shall be ineligible for membership in the Modoc Nation. This Section shall be interpreted to prohibit dual enrollment and membership transfers.
