Walga MTE is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and self-starting Construction Estimator to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing and estimating budget costs for federal construction projects by studying plans and specifications. The Construction Estimator will report to the Director of Contract Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
  • Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.
  • Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans.
  • Develops bids for construction projects.  
  • Produces written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project managers.
  • Provides accurate and clear quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials and assess the total construction costs.
  • Works closely with architects and other professionals.
  • Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff.
  • Navigates and understands building codes.
  • Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required.
  • Monitors construction processes.
  • Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
  • Visit federal construction sites on various military installments to obtain necessary client requirement information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in civil engineering, accounting, construction management, or related field is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry – project estimating or construction management is needed.
  • Understanding of accounting, data and risk analysis, research methodology, and estimation metrics.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and construction estimating software.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of relevant technical and non-technical documents, exceptional quantitative skills, and outstanding research and proposal writing skills.
  • Must have the ability to negotiate with seasoned Sales personnel.
  • Current or ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET clearance.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check prior to employment.
  • Travel is required.
